Many of Stones albums past their heyday were made in coflict between Keith's old school rockism and Mick's interest to be hip with 'kids these days'. On "Some Girls" Mick won. And Thank God. His lyricism on this album has reached the peak of its arrogance, and I just love how cartoonish his misogyny here sounds (damn right, the title track is fantastic). It's both in tune with new punkish sounds ("Lies"), and just downright mocking it ("Shattered"), or written from the perspective of a rock 'n roll royal looking back at his life of excess and new-found "Respectable"-ility. My absolute favorite, though, is the homosexual garbageman odyssey "When the Whip Comes Down". Truly a fantastic record. Sonically too, Charlie's sound's truly rocking here. For those who haven't yet, I strongly recommend listening to the additional 12 tracks released in 2011 Deluxe Edition. The boys were truly on a roll in these sessions!

you can clearly hear the punk and disco going and the good thing about having These Guys chasing other influences is that in the end you can still hear something familiar that is not quite one or the other. it's The Stones. been hearing their discography in release order and finally an album that can compete to Goats Head Soup or dare i say, Exile. after listening to Some Girl you get a bigger sense of how much It's Only Rock 'n' Roll was a misfire.

Terrific album that almost matches up to their absolute best, but not quite. Still, there are a handful of classics to be found here and even the ones that don't get a lot of radio play ("When the Whip Comes Down," "Before They Make Me Run" and "Far Away Eyes" in particular) are top-notch. The last great album they made (Tattoo You is "very good," I'd say).

I have a secret crush on this album and Tattoo You. I think they're both as good as anything the Stones have ever made.

We all know the Mick Taylor era is their peak in terms of creativity and artistic achievement, but this album is my second favorite after Exile. The rawness, the aggresive punk-blues hybrid, and those simple but majestic song arrangements are some of the greatest moves by the Stones.

This, for me, is their first all-out good album since Exile/Goats - no qualifiers, no "half of it is okay" and all that, just plain good.

The best of the stones albums where they just showed their level of musical genius that noboby can match. They did everthing ,a little disco(miss u) went a little country(far away eyes) and as always that good old hardcore classic rock n roll we all know and love(repectable). keep on rolling
