Finally got around to hearing the split with Candy Cane (who are also a trip). Nice compact blast of Pazuzu's signature space jam.

i wonder if they even knew how timely Mestarin Kynsi was going to be, an album about technocracy coming out in April 2020 when the pandemic was accelerating the world into total technocratic dependency. Listening back it's like they were seers.

I don't think anyone knew that how on point the album would be and wouldn't just be a artistic taking on a cautionary tale of government and elite power. Instead, it was an album that practically encapsulated the year in music form and it came out only in the first month of lockdowns.

actually, it becomes easier listening when you're tripping because psychedelics help the cognition interpret more chaos than when you're straight. since there's so many layers, there's a ton of sound to travel around, and the intensity of the music's energy matches well with the intense energy that psychedelics force you to have. It's really the perfect tripping music.

Everyone knows the best way to experience Oranssi Pazuzu is by tripping on psychedelics. Don't tell me I can't have a good time!

It's an awesome album. OP is certainly a band that deserves a lot more attention. However, I wouldn't call it underrated, atleast as far as OP fans.

I'm talking about outside of OP fans that it's underrated. Obviously anyone who's a fan of them likes the album but I don't see it brought up as much when discussing modern black metal releases.

Nah, I think they're pretty much... rated. Wanna know who's really underrated? Domovoyd.

just tried out Domovoyd. I love the album covers but at first listen it just feels like typical acid rock without anything unique to offer. I might give them a deeper try later though.

Juho talked a lot about how they were recording the next album in a recent podcast. paraphrasing, they're spacing out the studio sessions and doing a lot of the creation in the studio. there's supposedly a lot of samples and a more electronic music approach to composition, the idea they're going for that you won't be able to tell difference between the samples and the instrumentation.

Finally digging into their older stuff.... Kosmonument is awesome! Super fun! You can feel the youth in it, but still that blissful unique sound!

I listened to them high on acid and thought it wasn't real because it's too good.. They finished the Metal game, we can all go home now.

I dig this band. Very reminiscent of blut aus nord & ruins of beverast while still having their own cool sound.

крайний, плотно нашпигованный электроникой, непривычно слушать, но за смелые эксперименты респект финнам.

These guys are doing now what Neurosis did in the mid-90's -- opening a portal to a new dimension through music.

??? I mean, I never would have discovered this band had I googled "bands that sound like a fucking force of nature" so I'm pretty okay with the psychedelic label

the new OP album is absolutely fantastic and I think it has finally clicked the band and their music for me. I've always liked this band, but my god, they have really achieved something special with this record. It's the perfect mix of black metal, ambient and futuristic/spacey electronics.
